Davis Associates is providing human factors integration management and ergonomics design support to the Fehmernbelt Fixed Link project.  The project will deliver the world's longest combined road and rail tunnel to join Denmark and Germany.

Davis Associates was approached by FEM Consult to support their tender to provide design services for the electrical and mechanical systems.  Gary Davis, who will be the Human Factors Integration Manager on the project said:  "We previously worked with some of the FEM Consult team on the Øresund Fixed Link project and I'm delighted to be working with them once again.  We will be responsible for all human factors issues but most of our work will focus on the Link Control Centre, its operational concept and its SCADA and communications systems."

The Fehmern Link is scheduled to enter service in 2020 and will allow road traffic to cross between Denmark and Germany in a fraction of the time offered by the current ferry service.   For trains, the journey distance is reduced by a massive 160 km, currently required vis the Great Belt.
